The VersaCAMM VS series uses a completely new print head design which means they can print and automatically contour cut images without any steps in between. New features enhance metallic effects and a pattern library allows users to easily add patterns to metallic colours. There are two print modes for varying styles; Blend print mode prints CMYKLcLm and metallic ink together for more natural metallic colours; Layered print mode: prints metallic ink first, then CMYKLcLm with one pass, adding richness to metallic effects.
This printer is worthy because of its new compact design and the option of white plus a metallic ink configuration which allows more than 500 metallic colours to be generated. The printheads and ink circulation system have been reconfigured into a more compact area with improved ink flow and recirculation characteristics and Roland has redesigned the positioning of the inks so that they fit into the machine vertically rather than horizontally. This 1.37 m print-and-cut machine from Roland DG is the first unit to incorporate metallic ink, as well as white, in a wide-format unit. Based on the company’s existing technology, the metallic ink can be incorporated easily into the workflow using Roland VersaWorks 3.3, with hundreds of different colour options. Output can be printed either as a special colour or in combination with process options.
